"In 1997 I had Vintage Log Homes build me a weather tight shell for my log home. Mr. Gieselman had shown me how much money I could save by being my own contractor and finishing my log home. "I went to a lender and had funds put into an account which I controlled. I totally controlled who I hired to do the work and I took care of getting all the permits and inspections. Six months after receiving my logs, I was moving in! Mr. Gieselman could not have been more professional to work with and did an excellent job on my home. My home is lodgepole pine and it is like coming home to a dream come true every day!"

"When it comes to log home building, why not build it yourself? As a testimonial to this, my wife and I had always dreamed of owning a log home, but financially couldn't support the idea of hiring a contractor to build us one. After countless hours of research we met John Gieselman, owner of Vintage Log Homes. What an eye opener! John, a log home designer and builder, advised us of the ways and means to contract and build our own log home. The whole idea was very exciting. He helped us with the plans that suited our style and needs and got the ball rolling on a project that in the past had seemed impossible to imagine. During this process, we purchased five acres on the outskirts of Chelan, WA, a perfect spot for our rustic log home. Hoping to build soon, we had the power installed and drilled a well. It was the spring of 1994, six months after meeting John and we were already applying for our building permit. In the meantime, John ordered the logs and had them delivered on site where our new foundation was waiting. With help from my wife Lisa, and brother, Tom, we were determined not only to start this together, but to finish it. August was dedicated solely to stacking logs and by the end of the month the entire shell was complete, keep in mind that it took only three people to accomplish this task by hand. The next year, mainly on weekends, was spent on plumbing, wiring, and finish work. In the spring of 1996, we moved into our new home. What a labor of love! It is now the year of 2000, and our home has been appraised at double the total invested cost! It goes to show that a little hard work and determination pays off, and what a great experience! Thanks to our friend John Gieselman, our dream came true."
